TriFreaks Endurance Sports mission is to create a company that can give back a majority of what we make! As owner and Race Director of this company, it is my personal mission and dedication to create a company that can in essence reverse tithe ( give back 90% of what we make ) through donations, employment opportunities, scholarships, and tithing, just to mention a few ways.
Now you may ask yourself why I would want to do something like this? Well, at the end of the day, no matter how I look at it, when I look at life from my point of view, I find it rather pointless unless you can leave this world a better place. Based on my experiences in life up to this day, I feel convicted to make a difference in this world. The beauty is that we all get to choose if, and how we want to do this. For me it’s a must, and it goes far beyond TriFreaks Inc.
When I was 28 I had an accident and injured my back, leaving me with no feeling in my legs and with the immediate need for surgery. I woke up after surgery and was told by the surgeon that they were able to help me, however that I would never do sports again and that it was possible that I might spend my life in a wheel chair. I remember being so angry when he told me, that I made a vow to myself right then and there, that I would do anything I put my mind to, including walking, running, lifting weights, and anything else I set my mind to. It took the better part of 10 years to get there. Pain has and is a constant reminder in my life, and I will continue to use it as a reminder what I have set out to do. If you saw me today you wouldn’t notice that I have physical challenges. I am by far not a podium guy, and neither do I want to be. However I am an example of what can be done when you believe in yourself and push through discomfort. I am extremely grateful and feel blessed to have the opportunities I have in life. I am here today, because of God’s grace, believing in myself and because of the people in my life that believed in me!
I’ve owned TriFreaks since the beginning of 2010 now, and it has been a real eye opener! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine how much work it would be to put on events, and how many mistakes I would make. And frankly, if I had known ahead of time, I would likely have backed down. It is still a lot of work, and will continue to be. And I will likely continue to make mistakes. Because if I don’t, then I am not out of my comfort zone enough and am not trying hard enough! But I’m excited to say that I wouldn’t change my decision from back then. I have ranged from being totally frustrated, disappointed, overwhelmed, completely exhausted, sad, to happy, exuberant, fired up, full of hope, determined, and full of excitement. To feel all those feelings and feel this human, I wouldn’t give up a minute of it. And I’m thrilled about what the future holds…
So why am I sharing all this? Because I want to make a difference, and I need your help and support to get there! My first goal is to create a $2 million gross revenue company, while maintaining ethical, moral, and positive values and keeping the athletes, community and volunteers interests in mind! That means TriFreaks would give back $1.8 million! And I’m determined to not stop there… Once there, it is my intent to continue to set higher goals and to help other companies achieve the same thing! I believe with every cell in my body that I will get there! Right now we are less than 10% there. David versus Goliath! We’re in round three ( year 3 ), going strong! And the best way you can help me with my vision is to sign up for our races, so I can keep growing the company, keep getting better at this, and keep adding resources to the company to give you guys richer and fuller experiences. As TriFreaks grows, so will the amount of percentage I can give back.
TriFreaks Endurance Sports is one way for me to encourage people, and give them a vessel to break through and persevere in a world that is filled with negativity and the word “No”. I am telling you “Yes”, you can do this, and you should! Whether it is an Iron distance triathlon, starting your own business, or doing the unthinkable. Believe in yourself, surround yourself with like minded people, and charge forward! It is what I am doing, and I invite you along!
We have a great race line up, and we’d love to see you participate and spread the word. Come support my vision and help me create the kind of company I am working hard to have! The more of you that join us, the better we can keep doing, the more personal we can make it for each and every one of you! We want all of you to achieve your goals while at the same time supporting the community by partnering with a local non-profit organization for each and every one of our races.
I am excited at what the future holds!
Your’s truly, living deliberately!
