Awards:

Because of the "wave" race start,  all finishers medals will be handed out at the finish line and winners will be notified via email of prizes.

Note that since both swim and bike events are time based, not distanced based, overall placement for awards will be based on a combination of the distance travelled by atheletes for their swim and bike sections, as well as their time on the 2.95 mile run.

Here's a sneak preview of the T-Shirts everyone will get:

Course Info:

SWIM: 15 Min Swim

Waves of 12 athletes will start every 20 minutes at 8:00am.  Each athlete completes as many laps as they can in 15 minutes.  There will be an official lap counter but each athlete is still responsible for keeping count.

BIKE: 30 Min Bike

Each individual MUST HAVE THEIR OWN BIKE.  The athlete's bike will be placed on an Elite Wireless Trainer (SUPPLIED BY THE RACE) in the transition area.  Each trainer will be individually adjusted to the athlete's weight.  By doing so, athletes that weigh more must produce more wattage to travel the same distance as an lighter athletes.  Just like on the real road!  When the 30 minutes are completed a race official will announce "FINISHED" and  athletes will immediately start their run stage while we record distance traveled and transition the bike.

RUN: 2.95 Mile Run

Its time to head outside.  One time around the lake and you are done.  There is  a chance, just an itsy bitty little one, that it might be raining.  Hence the name.  Don't worry It'll feel great!

TRANSITION AREA:

The Transition Area for the race will be the deck of of the pool.  Located between an exit door on either side a comfortable breeze will offset the humidity of the pool.  Each athlete will be able to set up their transition area 30 minutes before their wave starts.  At that point athletes will be assigned to a personal Elite Wireless Trainer set specifically to their weight.  At the assigned trainer, athletes will set -up their  transition area for the entire race (swim-to bike and bike-to-run).  This is where they will go immediately following the swim to begin the bike portion of the race.   When the 30 minute bike is complete,  athletes will put on their running gear and transition to the run area between the Evans Pool facility and the path around Green Lake and then and Go! Go! Go!

AWARD PLACEMENT:

We have been asked how athletes will be placed since both the bike and swim are time based not distance based.  Since they are both time based, not distanced based, overall placement for awards will be based on a combination of the distance travelled by atheletes for their swim and bike sections, as well as their time on the 2.8 mile run.  Rest assured that your performance is still a measure of where you will be placed, and that there's still the opportunity to be competitive. :-)
