The School Supply Kids Foundation needs our help! Please help out by bringing one or more of the items listed below to help with the school supply drive we are doing at the Federal Escape. We'll be giving you a raffle ticket to win a Full Sleeve ProMotion wetsuit for each item you bring. So the more you bring the higher your chances are of winning a wetsuit, and the more you'll be helping kids in 3rd world countries get a chance at a good education! The Supply Kids Foundation is putting together backpacks for kid. Each backpack will contain the below, so the more items we get the more backpacks we can make. Here's what we need: Just bring what you have to the event! We'll be collecting it there! Your support is appreciated!

Event Information: | What: | Federal Escape Triathlon features a sprint and olympic distance triathlon, as well as a Tri for Kids at beautiful Five Mile Park in Feder al Way Washington. We are pleased to be partnering with the Supply Kids Foundation to help raise school supplies for elementary aged children in economic hardship regions and regions affected by natural disasters. Federal Escape Triathlon will feature a pre race expo, post race food, and more, and will be certain to be a memorable event. | When: | Saturday, July 28th, 2012 @ 6:30 AM ( Please note the earlier start time. While we realize that getting up even earlier is not fun, starting the race one hour earlier will help provide a safer race with less traffic on the roads. ) | Where: | 5 Mile Lake Park, Federal Way, WA | Packet Pick Up: | 
There will be a packet pick up at Road Runner Sports at Green Lake on Thursday the 28th of July from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. There will also be a late registration and packet pick up on Friday July 29th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Five Mile Park. You may also pick up your packet on race morning starting at 5:00 am. If you can pick up your packet before race day please do so as it helps make the day of go much smoother for us and ultimately makes it a better experience for all of you athletes as well. :-) | Registration: | To register click here! Athletes can register late with a $10.00 increase to price. You must be at the lake no later than 5:00 am on RACE DAY to register late. Note: If you register within two weeks of the date of the event we can not guarantee that you will receive have a finisher's medal or a T-Shirt. Both T-Shirt's and Finishers Medals have to be ordered two weeks prior to the event to allow for production time. We do our best to anticipate additional registrants and order extra for both. However both represent significant cost, and to help keep registration fees down for athletes we do have to operate within certain limits. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and look forward to seeing you at our events. | | Event Cost: | For a list of registration fees please click the above registration button. All prices are listed on the web page that will open. | | Refund Policy: | ATTENTION: Please read our Refund & Rollover Policy to make sure you understand our policies. | Check In: | Opens at 5:00 am on race day. Sprint athletes can arrive at 7:00 am. There will be a seperate side entrance at the transition area. Please do not use the bike in / bike out or swim in / run out areas to enter the transition area after the Olympic race has begun. Note that the transition area will be split into two sides, one for Olympic athletes and one for Sprint athletes. The transition area will close at 6:00 am for Olympic athletes and 8:00 am for Sprint athletes. | Events: | Olympic, Sprint and Splash and Dash Tri for Kids. More details are provided further below. The Splash and Dash Tri for Kids will not be chip timed. Kids will receive their overall time required to finish the event (no transition times). The course for the Splash and Dash Tri for Kids will be contained within the park. The Kids Tri will be divided into three age divisions, 6 or less, 7 to 10, and 11 to 14 years old. The 6 or less age division will consist of a swim and run only. The 7 to 10 and 11 to 14 age divisions are required to wear a helmet while biking. | | Start Times: | Olympic Triathlon: 6:30am Sprint Triathlon: 8:30am Tri-For-Kids Triathlon: 11:30pm | Post Race Awards, Food & Swag: | Medals & Awards: IMPORTANT: Before you go on make sure you read our Awards Policy! All athletes receive a finishers medal. Awards for both the sprint and Olympic distances will be announced at 10:30 am. We realize that the faster athletes may need to wait a bit for the awards ceremony. In fairness to everyone, and to promote sportsmanlike conduct, please get comfortable, stick around, and cheer those on that may not be as fast as you are. They are working just as hard, and in some cases much harder to get to the finish line and deserve to be cheered as much as everyone else. Awards will be given for the following placements: 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall male & female for Sprint & Olympic receive a trophy. 1st, 2nd & 3rd male & female age group winners receive award plaques. Age groups will be in increments of 10. Under 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, etc... up to 69, and then one group for 70 and over. 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall relay teams.
Due to the limited number of participants in the clydesdale and athena groups we are not able to provide separate awards for these divisions. They will still receive their USAT rankings as such, however will be grouped into the regular awards for the awards ceremony. We appreciate your undertanding, and assure you that we will watch and make sure to change this policy as the event grows. Post Race Food: Pancakes & Breakfast Sausage Brunch, Peanut Butter, Bananas/Fruit, Bread and/or Bagels. Post Race Swag: Post race swag will include the T-Shirts. You will receive both the T-Shirt and your finishers medal when you hand in your timing chip at the finishers line. Here's a preview of last years shirt and medal. We will post updated artwork for 2011 swag as we get closer to the event.

Sprint & Olympic Distance Course Info: |
SWIM: | Olympic: .9 Miles (1584 Yards) - Two laps around the perimeter of the lake. Temperature is usually in the high 60's to low 70's. Wetsuits are allowed. Sprint: 1/4 Miles (440 Yards) - Smaller loop course. Splash & Dash Tri for Kids - 50 Yard Swim | BIKE: | Exit park turning right on to Military Rd S. Turn right on 372nd St. Meander to 28th Ave S and go right. Veers naturally into 349th St to 344th - turn right. 344th merges naturally to 342nd back to Military Rd S - turn right. Take an immediate right onto 344th to 349th. Go left on 349th to Military Rd, then turn right and continue back to park entrance. One loop = 5.83 Miles Olympic course: 4 Loops Olympic Distance: 23.54 Sprint course: 2 Loops Sprint Distance: 11.88 Tri For Kids: 2 Miles (1 Mile Loop in Park) | RUN: | Triathletes will be guided onto a marked course within the park leading to the park exit, turning right on to Military Rd S. Turning right also on to 372nd continuing to 32nd. Follow 32nd to 360th and go right even-tually running into Military Rd - go right back to the park re-entering the park through the overflow parking entrance.
One loop = 3.14 Miles
Olympic course: 2 Loops Olympic Distance: 6.28 Mi. Sprint Course: 1 Loop Sprint Distance: 3.14 Mi. Tri For Kids: .25 Miles (1/4 Mile Loop in Park) |

KIDS SWIM: | Splash & Dash Age 6 or less - 25 Yards Tri for Kids Age 7 to 10 - 100 Yards Age 11 to 14 - 200 Yards | KIDS BIKE: | Splash & Dash Age 6 or less - N/A Tri For Kids Age 7 to 10 - .5 Miles Age 11 to 14 - 1 Miles * Note: The bike course is primarily within the park, partially on a gravel path and partially on pavement. There is a short section on Military Rd. which will be secured by volunteers, cones and police. Kid's bikes with road slicks on them will not be allowed for this race due to the gravel path that is part of the course. | KIDS RUN: | Splash & Dash Age 6 or less - .05 Miles Tri For Kids Age 7 to 10 - .25 Mile Loop Age 11 to 14 - .5 Mile Loop * Note: The run course is entirely within the park, partially on a gravel path and partially on pavement. |
| The Splash and Dash for Kids will not be chip timed. Kids will receive their overall time required to finish the event (no transition times). The course for the Splash and Dash for Kids consists of a Splash (optional swim) and Run and will be contained entirely within the park. The Splash and Dash for Kids is for kids ages 6 or less. The Tri for Kids will not be chip timed. Kids will receive their overall time required to finish the event (no transition times). The course for the Tri for Kids consists of a Swim, Bike & Run and will be contained entirely within the park with the exception of a very short stretch of the bike course that will be on Military road. This portion will be secured by volunteers, cones and police monitored traffic control. The Kids Tri will be divided into two age groups of 7 to 10 and 11 to 14 years old. The 7 to 10 and 11 to 14 age divisions are required to wear a helmet while biking and will be required to ride bikes that DO NOT have slick road tires due to portions of the bike being on gravel.
