Event Information:
 

What: 

 

The most unique event of its kind at an ideal time in the season. Looking for that race to finish off your triathlon season? On October 13th we will host the second annual DiabloMan Kid's Triathlon, and on the 14th, 2012 The 5th Annual DiabloMan Triathlon.  Both will give you the opportunity to finish your season in an epic way.  For the adult tri our swim will be in the pool at The Club Sport (at the base of Mt Diablo), and will consist of .25 miles (450 yards), followed by a 11.73 mile bike and a 2.86 mile run STRAIGHT UP Mt. Diablo!  

 

NOTE: Because of the swim start with waves of 12 leaving every 15 minutes, the race is limited to 300 people. So make sure you sign up early! :-)

Note: If you register within two weeks of the date of the event we can not guarantee that you will receive your swag.

 

Customized Swag items have to be ordered at least two weeks prior to the event to allow for production time.  We do our best to anticipate additional registrants and order extra for both.  However both represent significant cost, and to help keep registration fees down for athletes we do have to operate within certain limits.  We appreciate your understanding in this matter and look forward to seeing you at our events.

Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at Club Sport Valley Vista. Allow yourself enough time to set-up before the race. We recommend showing up at least one hour before the race.

Note: If athletes are not finished at 15 minutes they will be allowed to exit with full credit.  Waves will consist of up to 12 participants at a time.

 

IMPORTANT: Wave assignments are on a first come first serve basis.  Athletes will set up their transition areas and head directly over to the swim start.  As they enter the area they will be allowed to sign for the next available swim wave.  All swimmers are required to be at the pool by 30 minutes prior to the first wave of the day!

      Event Parking:

       

      Please note that TriFREAKS is not responsible for your vehicles should they be towed.  Please park following the posted parking ordinances.  Parking will be available in limited quantities at Valley Vista Club Sport, and will also be available at the Arbolado Park Lower & Upper Parking Lot. 

       

       

      Kids Triathlon Course Notes & Info:

       

      SWIM: Kids Tri 100 Yards | Splash N Dash 25 Yards

      Swim Location: Club Sport Valley Vista Swimming Pool

       

      Swim: The swim is 100 yards and will start at 10:00am. Waves of 12 kids will enter the pool and swim every 30 minutes. If kids are not finished at 15 minutes they will be allowed to exit with full credit.

       

      IMPORTANT: Wave assignments are on a first come first serve basis. Kids will set up their transition areas and head directly over to the swim start. As they enter the area they will be allowed to sign for the next available swim wave. All swimmers are required to be at the pool by 9:45 am!

       

      Post Swim Bags: Athletes may leave bags with their race number with any gear they want to leave behind. Please make sure the number is visible on the outside of the bag. The bag can be picked up when they are done with the triathlon.

      BIKE: 1.16 Miles

      The Bike Course is a 1.16 mile bike from Club Sport Valley Vista.  It takes place within the immediate vicinity of Club Sport Valley Vista. Exiting out of Transition Area, kids will begin their out and back runs. The turn-around points will be monitored by volunteers. Take a close look at the run map (Interative Map Link Above) to get a more detailed illustration of the run course.

       

      IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that the kids bikes will not be able to ride with slicks.  They will need non slick tires.  Part of the bike course is on a non paved surface, and slicks will have too high of a risk of them getting a flat tire.

      RUN: 0.49 Miles

      For the Swim Kids Should Remember:

      • If you are having difficulty at any point in the swim raise your hand and ask for help. Feel free to hold onto the pool edge or lap lanes and then either continue the event or ask for assistance and be removed from the water. As long as you do not move yourself, or are moved forward with anything other than swimming, you are still qualified to finish the race.
      • Wave assignments are on a first come first serve basis. Athletes will set up their transition areas and head directly over to the swim start. As they enter the area they will be allowed to sign for the next available swim wave. All swimmers are required to be at the pool 30 minutes prior to the first wave of the day!

      • If athletes are not finished at 15 minutes they will be allowed to exit with full credit.

      • Waves of 12 athletes will start every 15 minutes

      • Post Swim Bags: Athletes may leave bags with their race number with any gear they want to leave behind. The bag will be held at the transition area until you return.

      For Biking Remember:

      • You should always stay to the right side of the direction you are heading in. Follow the bike course signs.

      For the Run Remember:

      • Follow the run course signs and have Fun!

      Post Race Food:

      Bagels, Fruit, Juice and other goodies will be available at the finish line.

       

      Swag:

      • All kids will receive a DiabloMan T-Shirt. See below for a sample of what it will look like.
      • All kids will receive a DiabloMan Finishers Medal.

      Swim Location: Club Sport. You will need to walk over from the transition area.

       

       

      Swim: The swim is .25 miles and will start at 7:00 am. Waves of 12 athletes will enter the pool and swim every 15 minutes. If athletes are not finished at 15 minutes they will be allowed to exit with full credit.

       

      IMPORTANT: Wave assignments are on a first come first serve basis. Athletes will set up their transition areas and head directly over to the swim start. As they enter the area they will be allowed to sign for the next available swim wave. All swimmers are required to be at the pool by 6:30 am!

       

      Post Swim Bags: Athletes may leave bags with their race number with any gear they want to leave behind.  These bags can be picked up after you return from T2.

      BIKE: 11.73 Miles Sprint

      The Bike Course is a 11.73 mile bike from the Club Sport Valley Vista parking lot to Muir Picnic Area.  Remember! You are responsible for transporting anything back to your car for anything you leave at the second transition area for your run up the hill. We strongly recommend you bring a backpack to T2 when you stage your run to do so.

      RUN: Sprint - 2.86 Miles

      The Run Course is 2.8 miles (1.4 to the top of the mountain/ 1.4 back to the Finish Line at Muir Picnic Area). Exiting out of Transition Area, athletes will begin their out and back runs.

      The turn-around points will be monitored by volunteers writing down the numbers of the athletes. Make sure to yell your number as you turn around so that they don't miss you. Take a close look at the run map (Interative Map Link Above) to get a more detailed illustration of the run course.

      1. The pool area
      2. In Transition Area One (Mak sure & fill up for your bike ride!)

      • You are responsible for either transporting anything you will need for your run up the hill, or making sure it gets to us at T1 by no later than 6:30 am so we can transport it up to T2 ffor you. We will supply bags for this purpose, however recommend you use a backpack of your own if you have it. It will make identifying your belongings easier as well as bringing your items back from T2 easier.

      For the Run Remember:

      • Your Run Bag will be at T2, brought there either by us if you get it to us on time, or by yourself.  Make sure you pick it up when you are done racing and take it back down to T1.
      • Other than that, just have Fun!

      For the Aid Stations:

      The Aid Stations will all have Hammer Gel, Water & Heed drink. They will be located at:

      1. At the pool area at Club Sport Valley Vista.
      2. In Transitiona Area 1 (Remember: Fill up for your bike ride!)
      3. There will be an aid station half way up the bike ride for you to refill your bottles and get refreshments.
      4. In Transition Area Two / Finish Line

      Post Race Food:

      Bagels, Fruit, Juice and other goodies will be available at the finish line.

      Post Race Transportation:

      You will use your own bike to get back to T1. It means you can stay as long or short as you like afterwards and gives you far more flexibility. And since it's all down hill from T2, you'll get a nice refreshing breeze on the way down after having finished DiabloMan! :-)

      Adult Sprint Awards/Trophies:
      • Overall 1st male & female will receive a KOM (King Of Mountain) championship trophy awarded for the year and displayed at Forward Motion Sports for the year. Winner gets to defend their title next year.
      • 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall male and female will receive prizes.
      • 1st, 2nd & 3rd male & female age group winners receive award plaques. Age groups will be in increments of 10. Under 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, etc...
      • NOTE: Awards will be mailed out after the event.
